Locating and Recording of Lost Property

Any customer items found in our rental locations are recorded on our Lost Property database.

All our vehicles are checked for any lost property both at the:

  • Point of return whilst our customers are still present with the vehicle. Any items found at this point are immediately returned to the customer before they leave the Europcar rental location.
  • During the cleaning of the vehicle in preparation of the next customer renting it. Any item found at this point is handed into the rental office where it is recorded on our Lost Property database which includes the Rental Agreement number of the last rental the vehicle was returned from.

Europcar does not accept liability for any items or personal possessions that you may have left in its premises and/or in the rental vehicle. It is your responsibility to thoroughly check and remove all personal belongings from the rental vehicle before you return it.

All Lost Property items are safely stored at the rental location where they were found for a period of 2 months. If the item(s) remain unclaimed 2 months after the end of the Hire Period, they will be disposed of.

Please note that in some Europcar airport locations lost property will be handed over to the airport's Lost Property section and have this logged with each deposit made.

The property is required to be recovered from there with a slip number obtained from Europcar.
